Moving towards sustainable health,
inclusion, and performance

Why it matters

Modern life puts a strain on our nervous systems. In Germany, 37% of employees report symptoms of stress or burnout, 1 in 5 people are neurodivergent, and an increasing number of children and adults are struggling with attention issues, anxiety and autoimmune conditions related to chronic stress. Yet most environments (including schools and workplaces) still lack the awareness and practical tools to prevent chronic stress that can lead to autoimmune illnesses and support high-performing neurodivergent individuals.

Corporate Purpose

We are seeing a paradigm shift in corporate purpose. As the needs of the world grow, private sector leaders are asking soul-searching questions about the purpose of their business and prioritizing their responsibilities to their people and the communities they serve. Within this context, corporate citizenship is undergoing its own transformation, with companies reevaluating their role in larger social systems, reconfiguring their CSR, sustainability, HR and DEI priorities, and advocating publicly on the issues their employees, stakeholders and consumers care most about.

Research shows that when people are supported according to their unique traits and talents, they can become more productive, creative, and fulfilled. Diversity of thought fuels innovation, just as biodiversity sustains nature.

We promote a society that values nature and healthy habits for a sustainable performance

To achieve our goal, we communicate openly and transparently what we do. And we pay attention to how we do it. Health is the common thread that determines our actions as an organization

OUR VALUES

Evidence-based integrity

Grounding all programs in Psychoneuroimmunology and workplace psychology.

Diversity & inclusion

Creating inclusive environments where all neurotypes and differences are celebrated.

Prevention over cure

Addressing stress, burnout, and chronic conditions before they escalate.

Sustainable well-being

Promoting health as a shared responsibility for people and the planet.

Our vision

We envision a world where understanding how our brains and bodies work becomes part of education, leadership, and health care, where every person, from child to executive, can move, think, and thrive in alignment with their unique nature.

People & Planet Connection

Sustainability is not only about the environment, it’s also about people. Neurodivergent individuals often lead change in areas such as human rights, social justice, and climate action because of their heightened sensitivity and unconventional perspectives. By creating inclusive, health-conscious workplaces, we strengthen the social dimension of ESG and support CSR commitments, while contributing to planetary health: healthier lifestyles, mindful food practices, and reconnection with nature.

Our impact

At Corner of Movement (COM), we believe that well-being, inclusion, and performance are deeply interconnected. Whether in workplaces, schools, or personal lives, health and balance are the foundation of sustainable growth and human potential.

At companies we reduce turnover, increase engagement, and improve innovation capacity, while fostering a workforce that is resilient, inclusive, and aligned with DEI goals.

Embracing Neurodiversity

At Corner of Movement, being neurodiversity-affirming is more than just a term, it’s a commitment to honoring the unique ways in which each person experiences the world. We believe in creating an inclusive space where all neurotypes are respected and celebrated. Here’s what being neurodiversity-affirming means to us:

Respecting All Neurotypes:

I firmly believe that every neurotype is valid and valuable. There is no "right" or "wrong" way to be; we honor each individual’s unique way of being.

Understanding Neurodiversity:

Neurodiversity encompasses all of us. While some individuals are neurotypical, others are neurodivergent, no single person can be “neurodiverse.” Understanding this is key to our approach.

Avoiding Harmful Interventions:

We do not recommend ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) or behavior therapy for neurodivergent individuals, as these approaches often focus on compliance rather than true understanding and acceptance.

Rejecting Social Skills "Training":

We do not endorse Social Skills training or Social Thinking curricula as they can imply that neurodivergent people need to change who they are to fit societal norms.

Using Empowering Language:

We use clear, respectful language that avoids pathologizing neurodivergence. For instance, we refer to "Autistic" rather than using terms like “ASD” or “Autism Spectrum Disorder.” Similarly, we recognize that ADHD is not a disorder and support the development of non-pathologizing language.

Company Background

Corner of Movement was born from a deeply personal journey. After receiving a late diagnosis of ADHD at 33 and spending over a decade with undiagnosed chronic health conditions, including fibromyalgia and cervical vagopathy, Maria Fernanda became her own researcher. Over the course of three years and more than 150 medical appointments, she searched for answers that conventional healthcare couldn’t fully provide.

Her intuition told her symptoms were not isolated but part of a bigger picture, linked to the unique ways of her neurodivergent brain functions. Frustrated by short, impersonal consultations and a lack of holistic care, she began investigating.

Connecting the Dots

A Personal Insight That Sparked a Movement

She found a quote that deeply impacted her

You can’t connect the dots looking forward,” Steve Jobs once said. “You can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future, your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”

That idea stayed with her. She knew she couldn’t be the only one with this type of brain, always questioning, connecting, and sensing more. So she began looking back: remembering family and friends from her childhood, and observing people around her who displayed strong neurodivergent traits, many of them also dealing with chronic or autoimmune conditions. Through this reflection, she discovered what science is now beginning to confirm: a connection between neurodivergence, the gut microbiome, and autoimmune disease. This insight became a cornerstone of her project, Corner of Movement.

This self-directed research became her personal path to healing, and the seed of Corner of Movement.

Today, Corner of Movement combines cutting-edge science (Psychoneuroimmunology), ancient healing practices (like Qi Gong), and lived experience to help others, especially neurodivergent individuals at workplaces and schools, to reconnect with their bodies, reduce chronic stress, and reclaim their health with confidence and compassion.

The name behind the project

This is her at the age of 19, at ”La Esquina del Movimiento”, a tiny empanada stand in Venezuelan beach where she felt simple joy, movement, and human connection. She borrowed the bike to take the picture, spontaneity has characterized her.

In 2021 the project ”La esquina del Movimiento” was born and years later, the same name translated, ”Corner of Movement”, inspired her company. Like Frida Kahlo, who moved with her imagination and painted from her bed while disabled, she too founded healing while being ‘cornered’ by illness with the creation of this initiative 4 years ago. The corner became a turning point. Today, she helps others move forward, even when life feels stuck.”

The name was also good because as Einstein says “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving”.
